Visiting the dentist for a crown, veneer, or other restoration traditionally requires at least two appointments – one for impressions to be taken, and another for your restoration to be fitted. Thanks to the advanced CEREC technology used at Slough dental practice Moonlight Dental Surgery, it is now possible to diagnose, prepare, and restore your teeth in a single visit.
If you have had crowns, veneers, or onlays fitted in the past, you are likely to have visited the dentist more than once.
Traditionally, it works like this: you visit your dentist for diagnosis and to have your tooth prepared – any areas of decay or rough edges are removed and smoothed down, an impression is taken of your tooth, and a temporary restoration is fitted.
A week or two later, when your restoration is ready, you’ll be called back to see your dentist to have the temporary restoration removed and the permanent one fitted. Not only does this double the time commitment of both yourself and your dentist, it also requires two rounds of anaesthesia, and the disruption of living with a temporary crown, onlay or veneer.
Thanks to the CEREC technology employed at our Slough dental practice, multiple visits for restorative dentistry could soon be confined to the past. This machine enables you to enjoy a full tooth restoration in just one appointment.
The CEREC machine used at our Slough practice creates realistic-looking, realistic-acting restorations from strong, tooth-coloured ceramic material. This material closely matches the composition of natural tooth structure, meaning that it responds to changes in temperature in a similar way to natural teeth – so, there is less risk of your teeth cracking when eating or drinking something hot or cold.
Thanks to the bonding process used, your dentist is also able to preserve far more healthy tooth structure than with traditional metal fillings.
