Any dentist will tell you that prevention is better than cure. To maintain good dental health, you need to keep up regular visits to the dental practice as well as having an excellent home care routine. You should also see the hygienist regularly; they can help you to develop a bespoke home regime specifically designed to suit your individual needs.
A lot of people who are afraid of the dentist will see there is nothing to be scared of with regular routine dental appointments. Preventative care that keeps your gums and teeth healthy means there is a hugely reduced chance of needing more invasive or extensive procedures.
At our Slough dental practice when we treat nervous patients our primary aim is to restore them to full dental health and then help them to maintain it by proving to them that routine care, carried out in a relaxed and gentle manner, is not as scary as they might once have thought.
The majority of people need to visit the dental practice every six months for a general check-up, although you may be told you need to visit more or less frequently – you should always follow your dentist’s advice.
We offer early decay detection at our Slough clinic, as part of a general check-up. Your dentist will also check for gum disease and for mouth cancer, and will recommend any early treatment as required.
