Broken or worn teeth
Breaking a tooth is a dental emergency and you should see a dentist as soon as you can. Depending on the nature of the break and where in your mouth the damaged tooth is located, there are a number of different treatment options available.
For front teeth with minor chips or cracks, your dentist may recommend veneers. These are thin slivers of porcelain that are placed over the front surfaces of the front teeth, disguising any minor imperfections or cracks. The veneer will be made thicker where it covers the crack, restoring a natural-looking appearance.
Composite bonding, using the same material as is used for white fillings, is also a common way to repair minor chips and cracks. More extensively damaged teeth, particularly back teeth, may require a crown, an inlay or an onlay. Crowns are also a common option for strengthening worn teeth.
Missing teeth
Missing teeth can be replaced with or without dental implants. For a single missing tooth your dentist may recommend an implant with a crown attachment, or may offer a bridge, which comprises crowns or wings attached to adjacent teeth, supporting a false tooth in between.
Patients who come into our Slough dental practice with multiple missing teeth may be offered treatment with dentures or bridges, depending on their individual needs.
