Six Month Smiles are clear braces that can straighten your teeth both subtly and rapidly. At Slough Braces centre we are always keen to point out the advantages of teeth straightening treatment for adult patients – and also to highlight the fact that not all of those benefits are about aesthetics.
Whilst it is usually concerns about the appearance of the teeth that brings adults into our Slough dental clinic for a clear braces consultation, there are always additional health gains to be had from straightening the teeth, whatever your age.
Teeth straightening is good for your dental and general health. To put it simply, straighter teeth tend to be healthier teeth because they are easier to keep clean. With fewer gaps where dental plaque can amass, your risk of both gum disease and tooth decay are significantly reduced. Gum disease has been linked to a range of general health conditions, including heart disease, lung disease, and diabetes, whilst dental decay can lead to tooth loss, which can severely restrict your diet.
Six Month Smiles clear braces are designed to correct issues with the front (“social six”) teeth. The majority of adults who come to our Slough dental clinic for orthodontic consultations are first and foremost concerned about these teeth, because they are the ones that show when you smile.
As the name hints at, the average treatment time with Six Month Smiles clear braces is just half a year. Some mild cases take only three months, whilst the vast majority of patients at our Slough dental centre will finish treatment within nine months.
So how do these clear braces work so quickly, and how are they subtler than standard braces?
Well, the focus on the front teeth is key. These clear braces aren’t meant for major correction of issues with the bite, but for mild to moderate crowding and alignment issues, they are perfect.
As for the discretion, they are made not from metal but from clear ceramic and tooth-coloured nickel-titanium. This means that they blend in with the natural colour of your teeth, and aren’t immediately obvious in everyday life.
