Missing teeth? Ask your dentist about dental implants
1st March 2016
One of the most common questions asked of a dentist is “what is the best way to replace missing teeth?” At Moonlight Dental Surgery in Slough, we offer a number of tooth-replacement solutions. There is, however, only one permanent way to replace a missing tooth or teeth, and that is with dental implants.

Why you should replace missing teeth
As dentists, we would always advise patients to replace missing teeth, whether that’s with dental implants or traditional bridges or dentures. As well as causing obvious aesthetic concerns that can make you embarrassed to smile, when a tooth or teeth are lost – through decay, accident, injury, gum disease or general wear and tear – having gaps in your mouth can also cause health problems.
Any remaining teeth have a tendency to become crooked as they move into the gaps your missing teeth leave behind. This makes them difficult to clean and increases the chances of plaque bacteria building up, which in turn raises the chances of further tooth loss.
Missing teeth can also impact upon your ability to eat a healthy and balanced diet, and can even affect your speech.
Why dental implants?
As previously mentioned, dental implants are the only permanent way to replace your missing teeth. Our experienced team of implant dentists here in Slough have helped scores of patients to restore both their smile and their functionality with the help of implants.
Your dentist places your implants directly in your jaw bone under local anaesthetic or sedation. Once in position, the implants bond with the bone, helping to prevent the problem of bone resorbtion, and providing a firm anchor for your new teeth. After a healing period, you will be called back to our Slough practice so that your dentist can attach your permanent new teeth on top – dentures, bridges or crowns, depending on your individual needs.
