Do you need an NHS dentist in Slough?
19th January 2016
Are you looking for an NHS dentist and finding the search a little daunting? At Moonlight Dental Surgery in Slough we believe that everyone deserves high-quality dental treatment, regardless of their circumstances. That’s why we are proud to accept new NHS dental patients.

Our Slough dental practice offers a full range of NHS dental treatments. Your NHS dentist will be highly-skilled and fully qualified to deliver all treatments available on the National Health Service, from routine dental check-ups to replacing all of your failing or missing teeth with a complete set of dentures.
Treatments available on the NHS
National Health Service dental treatment is delivered on the basis of clinical need, so cosmetic dentistry is not available on the NHS. We do also offer a full range of private dental treatments, including a huge selection of cosmetic dental procedures, for patients who are interested in aesthetic work.
Treatment from an NHS dentist is categorised by band, depending on the amount of work involved. For the year 2015/16, England’s NHS bands and associated costs are:
Band 1: £18.80 includes an examination, diagnosis and advice. If necessary, it also includes x-rays, a scale and polish and planning for further treatment.
Band 2: £51.30 includes all treatment covered by Band 1, plus additional treatment, such as fillings, root canal treatment and removing teeth (extractions).
Band 3: £222.50 includes all treatment covered by Bands 1 and 2, plus more complex procedures, such as crowns, dentures and bridges.
Do I qualify for free treatment from an NHS dentist?
Some people are exempt from paying for NHS dental treatment. If you are unsure whether you qualify for free treatment from an NHS dentist, please contact a member of our Slough practice’s reception team.
Those who qualify for free treatment include pregnant women and nursing mothers, full-time students to age 19, and those in receipt of certain benefits.
